After my workhorse 10 year old 22" self-propelled Craftsman finally gave it up this year (think it spun a bearing), I decided to try electric and bought a 21" Snapper (Briggs & Stratton brand) for around $425. 85 volt, came with 2 batteries, rapid charger, basket, mulching adapter AND it's self-propelled too!.
After using it for 2 months or so, I decided I love it. My yard is maybe an 1/8 acre but I've never needed more than 1 battery to completely mow it, and still have battery charge left over. (run time is about 35 minutes) |

I have an 80v Kobalt mover and full set of yard tools. My lot is .5 acre including the house. I can cut the whole thing on one battery if it’s the larger one. Not storing gas is awesome.

For a time... Lowes and Home Depot had signs in stores that said "no refunds, exchanges only" for battery mowers.

My Kobalt 20" 80V has been fine for about 1/8 acre for several years. If it dies I will move up to self-propelled but not gas.
For 1/4 acre I would get self propelled if not maybe a rider. |

I was looking at the ryobi AWD self propelled. Most of the reviews are good except 1 I read. User said in the manual the batteries and mower cannot be stored in temps < 50deg. Should be stored inside the house or heated garage.
Hell I sometimes cut grass when it's <50 out. Or pickup leaves in the fall. |

I have a Kobalt self propelled electric mower for the areas to small to use the zero turn mower. Works great and I think it was less than $400 at Lowes. The only thing I don't like is the rear wheels are used for the self-propelled feature.

Y is that??? I would think that would be better, lean on the handles, and not loose traction...

Neighbor has an electric Zero Turn mower and it sucks. It has a hard time cutting high and wet grass.. For Lawn mowers, I'll stick with gas powered.
I have a Cub Cadet XT1 46" with like 23 HP and it's awesome!! 3 seasons of mowing. Best riding mower I have ever owned. |

Another recommendation for the kobalt. Same battery for different things. I even take a freshly charged battery when I change homes. So I am ready to go it's better than trying to pull your arm off tying to start temperamental gas things that develops their own personally.
