Default My Table Tops Are Done....pics

Cut 'em up two Saturdays ago, and voila ! 2 Table tops. 7 coats of Minwax poly, with sanding in between.... They'll be absolutely perfect for the man cave... My wife wants one... NOT !

Looks great Jeff.

Something I was thinking about that maybe Dab would know better is the strength where the 2 boards were glued together. I know that the glue joint is supposed to be very strong but maybe it would be a good idea to screw a couple pieces of wood or steel bar across the joint(the short way) for reinforcement in case you put something heavy on it or decide to stand on it.

if it's doweled, it may be fine. underneath, a couple cleats wouldn't hurt.

Sexy legs, or base cabinets on each end for reloading stuffs... That is the question.

I think the thinner one will get sexy legs though.....
The thick one will be a reloading table with a press on it, and end base cabinets.

They are bisqueted and glued, but I did put a cleat about 4" from each end.
Screwed, glued, and trued !

Work benches or not, they look nice. You should make up some coasters so you don't get watermarks from the adult beverages

I think the coats of poly will allow me to just wipe off anything that's spilled on them. If not....then sand, & re-poly coat...

The clearer one is 4'6" long x 29" x 2" thick....
The other is 4'4" long x 27¾" x 1 3/8" thick...

We had to shave the smaller one down due to nail holes and imperfections, and thats what I ended up with.
For two 14' boards that survived from the 1930's, I think it's pretty cool.. It was around 80 years ago, when they were originally milled.
