and a cop was in his car,sitting in the parking lot so I went up to him and thanked him for his work and told him I was behind all good cops 100%
He looked stunned and then thanked me.....that is all.

I'm super shy in real life, but I'm doing this. We even participated in a Back the Blue parade in a town over from us on Saturday. There were about 100 cars all decorated, led by a fire truck. It was really fun. As we drove past the police station, the officers and other staff looked so happy and THEY were thanking US!

The last few weeks have brought some very personal challenges for our family. I cannot open up details here, but suffice it to say, we have entered days where it is dangerous not only for our LEO spouses but also the entire family.

Last night, with absolutely NO SOCIAL MEDIA posts, had a prayer gathering at the PD. It was beautiful and it was peaceful. There was prayer of protection over the officers and their families and the community.

Not sure the last time I cried that much. It was beautiful to know people cared and would “risk“ coming out to support us.

I was in line behind a local officer at Taco Bell. He was just approaching the pick up window and I told the person taking my order " I want to pay for the order in front of me"

"Scuemee?"

I want to pay for the officer's order at the window.

"Who"

There is a police car in front of me, I want to buy his lunch

Being in that arena for a long time, it's pretty much second nature for me to thank him/her for their service.

Our local PD runs a program called Coffee with a Cop where every month or so, they have about five cops (half of the force) spend a few hours at a coffee shop sitting down with citizens and answering questions and just doing some social mingling. I've been to several of them and I think it's a good program. Cops here patrol on foot in some areas and even on bicycles. All the ones I've met are very approachable and good guys. Living in a small town can have it's bad points, but this is not one of them.

In Silicon Valley, a cop is just a face behind a rolled up window and you consider yourself fortunate if you are not talking to them. It shouldn't be that way.

i just don't go anywhere that they are at. went to the dump this morning. not there. i go to the water place once a week (normally sunday mornings), they aren't there, but the sheriff's office is just 1/4 mile down the driveway, i wave as they go past.

I have always thanked police, military and firemen for their service.

Have not had the opportunity to verbalize, but always give a wave to any that are out on foot assisting with traffic when driving by.

I stand behind good police, our military, first responders, etc...and any SJWs that have a problem with that can take a long walk off a short pier as far as I'm concerned.

On our ice cream truck, whenever a police, fireman or EMT walked by, we'd always offer a bottle of water, and told them to come back for more.

A few years ago, our town had an event for firefighters - contests and such. At the end of the event, we gave free ice cream to all first responders.

Another more fun thing they do here is called "Tip a Cop". Cops in uniform act as waiters in a local restaurant, usually for a few hours around lunch. All their tips (which are usually pretty generous) go to a local charity.

An unintended side effect is it makes you appreciate the usual waitstaff when you experience how incompetent the cops are. Lots of fun for all.

When it gets hot here, they will take ice pops to the more needy areas and those prone to crime. The kids feel comfortable and excited to approach the officers when they are handing out popsicles. They started tagging it Copsicles".
