Birthers' claims that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States are "ludicrous," Bill Clinton said in an interview that aired just two hours after Obama launched his reelection campaign.

"If I were them, I'd be really careful riding that birther horse too much. Everyone knows it's ludicrous," the former president said in an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America" that aired Monday.

While skepticism about Obama's birthplace might appeal to some voters, Clinton said that "a very different America" votes for presidential elections than in midterm congressional elections.

A February poll from Public Policy Polling found that 51 percent of Republican primary voters said they think Obama was born outside the United States. Since then, potential GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump has stirred the pot with a long string of media appearances questioning Obama's birthplace and asking for his birth certificate. Obama's 2008 campaign and the state of Hawaii have released his birth certificate, though not the "long form" version that some activists are seeking.

"I think he will fight back," Clinton said of the attacks.

"But I think one of the elementary rules of combat is you don't want to get in your opponent's way if he's shooting himself in the foot."

I agree with the strategy; let the Birthers be as crazy as they want to be. Besides, Obama has been President for more than 24 months. Exactly how stupid do you need to be to keep asking the same question that you already have the answer for?

Besides Trump, I haven't heard anyone other than dems talking about this, and of course a few news media people.

Funny thing though, only the dems were talking about it during the last election. Clinton's supporters got it started. Now clinton says it's hurting the pubs? Why would he say that? Smart tactics says let them talk about it all they want if it's making them look stupid.

As stated before Obuma is hiding something BAD, what it is I do not know. I doubt it’s his BC, that is more likely a red herring put out to draw fire. More than likely it something to do with his past travels, school funding or his grades/activities or lack of activities while on campus.
Who knows as just about everything about him is hidden behind executive orders! Just about the first thing he did on ascending the POTUS throne!

With that said I seriously doubt a progressive liberal like Clinton is going to do or say anything that will help the opposition. Beware of Greeks bearing gifts!

No doubt in my mind the SOB is hiding something. Something big. He is blanket covering up all he can in hopes of making the search extremely difficult.

It could be school records, his living in foreign countries which might have entailed renouncing his American Citizenship, legal /criminal issues possibly under another name.

Of course his slime ball buddies in the MSM are going overboard in helping their idol to do this. If this was a repub with that much hidden/ sealed/ quite possibly fraudulent history they would have dug it out and made it the main topic of the newscast for months.

Yes he could easily be legally born in this country. (No one knows for sure) He also could have renounced his citizenship in order to be in other countries.

Hopefully one day the truth WHATEVER IT IS will come out!
