My wife was on federal jury duty a couple of years ago and the judge started the first case off by telling everyone to not play any games, he knows them all.

I've only been called for it twice.
Once for county court, and I knew everyone involved in the case...

I had Federal duty and I was kind of wanting to get selected, but I never even had to appear at the courthouse. :kicksrocks:

I have actually been called 3 times,chosen once but got out of it because I was sooooo important to the company ....now I don't think I would mind

Each time I've been called, they never hit my number and I get excused without having to go to court.

I got selected for a criminal trial last time, but I was released during the interview process due to my media status.

I was picked to be in the pool for a federal murder trial up in Springfield MO. I was literally 1 mile shy of them having to put me up in a hotel if they picked me for the actual jury. Which meant I would have had to drive roughly 150 miles round trip every day of the trial. Anyway they didn't pick me. Could be several reasons. 1) I was the only one who wore a suit. The rest of the people looked like they just woke up or were planning on doing some gardening or heavy drinking that day. 2) I filled out the 70+ page questionnaire very comprehensively and spent extra time on a few specific questions. One was about what I think about the justice system pro and con. They got an earful. My guess they wanted a response like "It's fine."

Mention you believe in jury nullification and see what happens!

I got out of jury duty a couple of years ago via being the primary caretaker of a child 6 years old or younger.

I'll have this out for another 5 years due to our youngest child.

I'd love to do it when I and the kids are older, but I'm pretty sure I'll get dismissed every time.

As much as I dislike jury service, watching the judge eviscerate people for lame excuses is hugely entertaining.

The best was a young guy who was trying to get out of serving on a DUI case who kept saying he couldn't be impartial because it involved alcohol. He didn't look at all like someone who avoided alcohol. The judge basically said, "Fine, you're excused, and I'll see you next week because I'm personally putting your name back in the jury selection pool."

my last time, locally (didn't get picked), i got to stand up twice to explain further why i said Yes to some screening questions.

first it was to tell the court that i had a cousin who was recently convicted of mail fraud/wire fraud and was serving about 14 years in fed. pen. that was fun.

then about 8 min later I was back to explain that my BIL was kicked off the bench in FL by the FL Supreme Court for mis-conduct on the bench.

I think she and the lawyers determined I had too much interaction with the legal process. whatever. I was ready, willing, and able to be a juror.
