No need to worry, the main audience certainly isn't kids anymore. American comics have been trying for decades to remine the once rich fields of the same generation and failing. They make movies, do new combinations of existing characters and re-write the same boring storylines with new names endlessly. Kids see right through that. Go to any major comic convention and the dominant thought is "Comics are for fat, old white guys."

Anime rules the market far and wide. You're going to want to avoid it, it has every subject imaginable included. If you want a taste anyway, look for BL Anime....
