Default Childhood hometown , would you ever go back?

Many of us have moved away from where we grew up.

Would you ever move back to your hometown; assuming you ever left and why or why not?

This was my backyard and I was a short drive from the Chesapeake bay, but still the answer is no. (Sorry Donn~E)

My home town of Baltimore..............hell no, even in some of the surrounding counties............hell no.
I go back as little as possible, only when I have to, which now is usually a viewing/funeral.

Also a no, too cold and poor economic area.
Came close a few years ago as wife was trying to get a promotion and a transfer so she could be close to her mom and dad but glad it didn't work out.
Not saying I won't be there taking care of elderly family but I won't be selling this place.

Small town of Sulphur Springs Tex. I go back to visit my Mom and what relatives are still around, but hell no ! Growing up there is the reason I joined the USN. To escape.

No, primarily because it's located in Illinois (Bloomington/Normal) and Illinois sucks ass. Completely ruined by the Chicago machine politicians.

I never left. I liked where I was raised. Not a lot of people. And for the most part they are good, friendly, hard working people. Open spaces. Traffic isn't bad. Although there are a bunch of them that can't drive.

Also in the middle of the country, so it quick and easy to go other places.

I would, it was a nice village to grow up in....I know the demographics have changed there but there are still nice areas, most homes 100 to 150 years old.......I think the taxes have gotten a bit out of control like just about everywhere else but.....yeah I would look into it.....

I grew up mostly in West Orange, NJ. Nice enough that I wouldn't mind living there again (several of my HS classmates still do), but the taxes are outrageous now.

Born in Detroit so that's a fairly obvious no.
Moved from MI to Upper Montclair just a few miles from you.

W. Orange was a beautiful neighborhood with classic homes but EO? Run Forrest!

Grew up in Draper Va. A wide spot in the road in the mountains of SW Virginia. Will never go back there to live. I barely go visit anymore now that my Mom is gone.

I did.
After HS, took off for Upstate NY to attend College.
Stayed for 10 years.
36 years ago, got an opportunity to re-locate back in the hometown area,
and took it.
Not exactly to the city I grew up in, but a suburb of it.

To my birth town NFW. I go back to where the parents live every fall to visit family and hunt... once my parents pass I probably won't go every year but there are still relatives there I would want to see.

This sounds a lot like where I grew up, Devon PA. Kind of semi-rural at the time. No traffic, close to Philly and a reasonable train ride to NYC. It's not like that any more. Suburban sprawl had already begun to swallow it up when I left in 1982. Now its crowded and covered with strip malls just like where I live now in NJ. No reason to go back.
