Default Running AVGAS in 2 Stroke Lawn Equipment

My leaf blower runs like total shit on this ethanol infused California gas. I also have a small chainsaw that I use on occasion along with a gas powered Hedge Trimmer I use on occasion.

When I store the hedge trimmer and chainsaw, I empty the fuel and start them until they die, as to not leave this corn gas in there to screw things up.

I was thinking about running AVGAS (100 Low Lead) in this stuff, and was wondering if there would be any issues doing so? Seems it would be more 'pure' and maybe not spoil as fast? Since I work at an airport, I have no problem sourcing it and seems like it would be a good alternative?

(FYI, equipment is a mix of Stihl and Echo products)

I want to run 100ll avgas in my generator, but I’m having an issue sourcing it in the valley. Maybe Whiteman might have it? It’s hard to just walk up to the flight line. I’ve been using Trufuel which is too expensive. I’ve also tried to find ethanol free gas in the valley, and that too is hard to source.

Give me a can, I can get it. It's about 5 bucks a gallon, give or take.

The airport frowns on people filling up gas cans with it, but you have to know how not to get caught. And I know how not to get caught.

100LL is quite stable and a good choice for power equipment if you cannot find "blue" fuel in your area. If you want a less expensive alternative try local boat dealers or marinas for ethanol free fuel since running corn voids most marine powerhead warranties.

We're lucky to have an ethanol free gas station, that also sells race fuels, just over a mile from the house.

I get their 104 unleaded in cans but it's not cheap. I use that at seasons end in all the gear; mowers, backpack blowers, snow blower, Vette, boat etc.
Stuff almost always starts with 1 pull after sitting for months.

THAT is why I use electric small shit, saws, edgers, etc not fighting them the way the neighbors do.....now on the lawnmower, I take off the rip cords and drill a hole in the top plastic, and get to the bolt holding the crank to the magneto/flywheel....with a welded on socket in a cut off 3/8 extension, chucked into my 1/2 inch drill.....I"ll flip that bitch till hell freezes over, but it WILL start....not pulling my spine out over a damn rip cord....

Do you do that with your generators also?

I put this stuff in all my gas cans for small engine use. I have put up lawn equipment over the winter with gas in the tanks and have it start right up come spring. Most times with first pull I love this stuff!

Yep, that's what I use
Less than a shot glass per 5 gallons and it works great.

I live on a large lake and know well people that own marinas. That crap gas (ethanol) was all that was available up here for about 7 years. (peoples republic of NY) All marinas had additives put in their gas dock supply and also sold products that were supposed to help. Their mechanics were keep busy fixing up all the problems that crap gas brought on.

I have a boat and a bunch of two stroke tools & toys and a portable generator so even with additives in the gas, any gas at the house was not stored more than 4 months.

Then after a while some real gas found its way into the state, the stations at first were few and far between. The closest to me was about 20 miles. Once I found out, any gas I purchased for my Vettes I would drive there to fill up (yes it was much more expensive but worth it to me) Gas to keep around the house I had a lot of 5 gallon cans and when necessary would throw then in the PU and get my gas . Especially up here we get severe cold weather and having gas for the generator was paramount.

That was a few years ago now many of the stations sell E free high test it is more expensive and is 91 octane, but that is all that I will use. That is all that the marinas can get (91 none E) but it seem to me that just about everything runs better than shit gas does.
FWIW gas at the marinas is about a dollar to a $1.25 more per gallon at the gas docks. As for me and my son we get land gas and fill our boats with it using 5 gallon cans, as I have a private beach with a 60' dock right in front of my house!

Another firm believer in Star Tron.

I put it in my small engine gas year round. I have two Cub Cadets 125's. One does lawn duty and the other is the snow machine. I know either will start after sitting for more than 6 months without a problem.

Star Tron here too, no issues since starting to use it, I do run my equipment dry at the end of the season though

"The season" never ends here in the South. I use the mower and string trimmer year round. The generator gets blue fuel and Sta-Bil.
