I have done just pull chain, on entire trees, drove my work van with a chain on the hitch about 5-6' forward, palm tree about that size here in Florida, some other smaller tree many years ago up north.....
The above is an interesting demo....but I don't see the reason for pulling that stump.... |

The old block and tackle. If I remember correctly, and please correct me if I'm off, but every time you go around a set of pulleys you gain twice the length of pull but double the force of lift, with the same amount of pull force.
