Default Help with hub removal 2005 Expedition 4X4

My buddy sent me this and I have no earthly idea how to get this bolt off. 21mm and behind the hub but I don't even have a low profile socket that'll fit this damn thing.
Ideas and general smart-assery gladly accepted.
Scott

Can you use two Crescent wrenches,or an open end box wrench, with a Crescent on the closed side? Is there enough room to use the open end wrench as intended?

Failing that, I bet Snap On makes some kind of 5 sided socket for just such an occasion. Failing THAT, it looks like the u-joint has to be removed first, to get at that nut.

Just getting these out of the way so constructive answers can be provided.

I don't see "Call the guy" on your list.

Fail.

Simple. You have to pull the stubshaft. And to do that, you are going to have to break one of the ball joints loose. Probably the lower. You can see the ding in the knuckle where it's been done before. Welcome to working on Ford 4x4's.

I can't get my bearings (no pun intended) on the configuration. Any shots from further out/away?

This was my first thought. Like I had to do with the rears on my 04 Corvette, but I'm lost on what I'm looking at for some reason.

If I was stuck on Mars, due to the rover breaking down, GTO DOOD is my first choice to be at my side.
Dood would have probably been able to save the Columbia Shuttle.

That's what I told him to do but as it turns out, slim sockets work.

Luckily, he's using my Ing Rand gun and compressor. Sheit is all rusty and caked on for 20 years.

Yup, that was the ticket.
I've built a half dozen motors and been turning wrenches since the mid 80s but this one stumped me. Didn't realize thin wall would do it.
I was ready to tell him to pull the joints and entire assembly out since he's already upgrading it all.

Thanks all for the input, and good shit talkin'
Scott

I've removed hundreds of those Ford bearings. You need a thin wall socket, chrome and not an impact socket. Those have thicker walls.Whoops, too late.

Last problem we're having is removing the axles. Those bitches are stuck...

I usually can't remember what repairs I've done let alone how to do them. I have to keep a log book for each of my vehicles to keep track of what work I've done. I do remember that I had all that apart on my F-350 4x4 once to do ball joints and shit. I vaguely remember it being a PITA.
