Default Router bits

Hey @DAB looking for a set of cabinet door bits that are decent quality and won't break the bank, suggestions?
Made simple doors with panel inserts, now looking to do raised panels and higher quality doors.
Seen some that are "adjustable" also.
Quality issues with some cheap bits seem to be an issue, as in not true and bits wobble.
Thanks for any input.

you rang???

(lurch growl)

i've made 2 sets of raised panel doors, one using an expensive set of router bits (that I still have)

and one using just my table saw and a simple jig of scrap plywood.

the router bit set has a concave shape to the edges of the raised panel, the table saw version has a flat shape at the edges of the raised panel.

Can you ship them to Rod for a few weeks of gentle use?

if he asks nicely.....

fair warning, they were used to make the top kitchen, out of oak, which is a hard wood. i'd clean them up and wish him well.

with those type bits, you want to shape your panels in several passes, last pass being about 1/8" to 1/16" deep cut, to minimize burns. end grain first, of course.

the bottom pic is our current kitchen, wormy maple.

when you make your own, you get to pick exactly what wood goes where, and can hide crummy graining and highlight spectacular graining.

factory made? go shopping at homey depot.

I think it was.....but the plywood I made the boxes out of was plain maple, no huge character stripes/etc.....so we followed suit.....let the rest of the kitchen be fancy/tile/floor/etc......

Book matching is awesome on those!

We have custom knotty alder and I'm thankful they did a pretty good job with grain.

OP, I would not trust anything adjustable for router use. Get a flak jacket if you decide to use adjustable. I have a pretty good plunge router, but I think it's eons away from cabinetry work. Premium router, premium bits and a solid table would be in order if I ever considered making cabinets for my home.
