My Panasonic Plasma is #5 in hours on AVS. I need to start using it again as I've dropped a spot.

C/M was a direct knock off of RCA..but much cheaper constriction.....dunno who/what/where on that.....but all the tubes were the same except for the cheaper tuners.....channel selectors, if you wish.....been a while....about 50 years now......

Magnavox was not much liked in the industry......politely/privately among the guys it was called Maggot In a Box......along with Silly Vania......

Zenith was the last surviving American TV brand name....they never went to the orient for prostituting the name, like all the others.....

I still have a ~100 y/o PHILCO console radio from my folks, AM and two short wave bands.....ran it up on a Variac a couple years ago.....slowly increasing the AC voltage to the radio to allow parts to get used to being energized......especially all the capacitors in it.....worked fine....not used for several decades before that......

Bought in 1995 and became a whole owned subsidiary in 1999. Most of their manufacturing was done in Mexico or overseas since the late 70's

Back in the 1970's Zenith remotes were controlled by tuning forks. My friends father had one of the first ones. We found out if you shook your key chain it would change the Chanel.

Pissed off his dad every time we left the house.

I remember when I was a kid, we had this color model. Everyone thought it was the shit, too. I think it's funny now that my spare TV is bigger than the entire cabinet

When the dog rattled the tags on her collar, the channel changed.

I remember those remotes and all the other things that made the channel change. Key, dog tags, doing the dishes. So much fun getting my Dad angry during the evening news. "It wasn't us Dad, it was the dog". Good times!

Being the rabbit ear adjuster was about as glorious... Especially if you had to stand there or wouldn't come in.

My parents bought their very first color TV when we moved to Houston, late 70's. We had the 'space command' Zenith that you could actually hook up your phone to and answer the phone with the TV, using the remote.

Of course, Mom and Dad didn't want the extra expense of having a phone jack installed behind the TV so we never got to use that feature. Still, pretty cool idea, and one I haven't seen since.

About as bad as the motorized outside Antenna, wind blows, kids turn the antenna. Storm comes thru, turn the antenna. I remember having to climb on the roof to replace the motor, that was fun.

Ours was on a tower, always liked going up there. Had to replace the cables once and painted the tower a few times.
