Default What's Wrong With IE?

I notice a lot of online pages/sites are stating they will no longer support IE and to use a different browser like FireFox, Chrome, Opera, etc...

So what gives?
....big money? crappy performance? mobile devices?

IE? LOL Seriously? For one thing it's literally been discontinued by Microsoft for at least three years. They still stick it in Windows 10 but you have to go looking for it. They now have the Edge browser, which isn't terrible at least. IE had so many security issues it was impossible for large organizations to support it, nor would they want to. It sucks for the people who relied on IE browser add-ons, but honestly you can still use them with hidden IE in Windows 10 once you go through a couple hoops. But modern browsers like Chrome, Brave, etc are light-years ahead of IE.

I’ve got one system at work that only works on IE. We’ve got a hardware/software upgrade in the works and I hope we get in place before Microsoft pulls the plug.

The only thing I use IE for anymore is cruising the net at work because everything else (finally!!!!!!!) runs in Chrome. Separate browser minimized can idle all day if we're busy.

I bet if I checked your computer that you have at least two IE browser add-ons that you don't know you have, didn't specifically install, and that are malicious. It's so common among IE users that I'm surprised when that's not the case. An IE add-on can assume all the admin rights it wants. It can install root kits, trojans, key logging is insanely easy, and that's just the common stuff that malicious actors use to infiltrate your PC via IE and other old, bloated, buggy, security-free Microsoft programs.

From a web design standpoint, IE is and has always been a pain to accommodate. IE never conformed to web standards, doesn't support numerous commonly-used HTML tags, never kept up with modern CSS and javascript definitions, etc.
You basically have to double code every page element...One line of code that works for all other browsers, then an alternate block of code to make that same element appear and function in IE.

This was a necessary evil when 50+% of the internet was browsing on IE. You just couldn't dismiss that large of an audience. You wanted people to see your shit, you HAD to make it work in IE.
Now, with IE down to around 2% usage...Web designers can easily adopt the "****it, we no longer care if this shit works in IE" attitude.
