My grandparents lived on a farm, and they or one of my Dad's siblings got to wring the chicken's necks for dinner, which was cooked on a big, cast iron, wood stove. They'd also eat huge helpings of veggies from the garden, had steak for breakfast, huge meals to us today...

Luckily, All I ever did was eat the food, because I was too young to have to choke any chickens

The only stamp I would get is on my butt from my Mom if I didn't get the items out of the garden in a timely manner. I learned very quick my Mom has a good arm and aim when throwing a shoe.

And the bag of green army men. You always had to come back from the store with either a balsa wood penny plane or green bag of army men....

Ahh so now that you are older you are saying you choke the chicken all the time but I bet these days it involves lotion and a tissue.

No kidding - I rarely buy soda anymore (only for mixing cocktails), and it was damn near $5 for a 12 pack.

I spend about $4 for a dozen of cage free. Luckily when I go to GA my sis loads me up since she's got chickens. I can see why so many people are raising their own now!

My neighbor has chickens, and the eggs are excellent! They're a bit smaller than the store-bought kind, but taste better.

Remember when you poured lighter fluid on one of the soldiers, lit him up and pretended he was a Jap?

Toy soldiers was serious business in the late 50s.
