Back on track a little here...this feels like a couple idiots forcing their kid into a gender role (lol irony) because they want everyone to know how progressive and tolerant they are. The kid is just an accessory to them, like a ****ing t shirt or bumper sticker

Parents should be able to recognize and deal with such problems with their kids but there are too many with a serious lack of "give a shit" They are spineless critters who think it's so much easier to do whatever it takes to keep things quiet so they don't have to be "bothered by it". I f child has a problem of ANY nature, it needs to be dealt with, not covered over for the parents comfort.

Another is tolerance, acceptance, compassion. Is it their fault that they didn't pop out of their mother, so sure in who and what they were sexually as you?
Knock it off. You're starting to sound like a grown up.

IMHO, I say let this be a great example of why school vouchers should be made avilable to every parent.

If the parents had a voucher to send their child to a school where his or her "special needs" could be met (what ever they may be), while still learning reading, writing and arithmetic then that's a win for everyone.
I remember when vouchers started....ugh. I went to a private Christian school form K-8, and I was in about 6th grade when the school was added to the voucher program. That semester, the schools population went from about 200..to about 275. The following semester, the number of kids sent to the deans office tripled, the number of violent outburts, objects thrown fights, etc...actually became a statistic, because prior to that it was like1-2 a year, for the whole school, now it was a weekly occurrence. Expulsions went from about 1/year to about 15/year.

Im not saying its a bad program, but it turned a really nice school with good kids, into a cesspool.

Like how 90% of all kids today either "have ADD" or are "undiagnosed ADD"....it makes me sick. Seeing these mindless zombies that once used to be happy, active kids. I also think it messes with your metabolism, it seems like quite often when kids go on it, they lose weight, but when they come off it, like for spring break of summer, they gain weight rapidly.

You got some source to back this percentage up, or are you just running at the keyboard? I agree, it certainly seem like there is a lot of it. Unheard of when I was younger.

just running at the keyboard.

When i was in school, 91-00, we had like 1-2 students out of 200 or so that were on ritalin in about 95ish, by 2000, that number was up to a solid 50. And now, id wager its up to 125+.

Its much easier to dope kids up to make them listen, than to engage thier minds and teach them behavior.

Wait, what?

I'm curious as to how a 6 year old child even knows that gender reassignment surgery exists...???

Obviously, the parents want to let the child be who he/she is, but it would seem as if there is a little bit of influence here. Instead of letting the child's mental capacity catch up with what's happening with his/her body, they're essentially shoving him/her into the limelight. Remember, were talking kindergarten/first grade age here.

For the record, I wouldn't have an issue with unisex bathrooms in this situation. There truly are some people that are just born this way. However, these parents are not doing this child any favors. Right or wrong - they are setting this child up for years of torment. The parents are doing this child a disservice by not explaining (1) the realities of life, (2) the appropriateness of private versus public life and (3) the appropriate age to where they (the child) begin to make their own decisions.

My daughter would have gone to kindergarten everyday in moon boots, a wife beater, a pink tutu and a football helmet, had I let her. However, as much as she felt that that attire expressed who she was, it was not appropriate.

haha. I wasnt on the voucher, my parents actually had to pay for me to go there, i think it was around 250 a month at the time.

What the small private schools on vouchers ended up getting, were kids who were expelled from public schools, kicked out of charter schools, and were given vouchers to go terrorize private schools.
