Had an account some time ago but deactivated after a couple of months. Dont miss it at all. I get a couple of emails a week from FB "Do you know.."

I post more frequently on there, now that my daughter is in Kandahar. It's just one more way for us to aggravate each other.

I keep up with a few old friends, too. It was a good resource as my high school reunion was coming up.

It has its place. I have all notifications turned off, so the only time I ever even deal with it is when I log on.

I actually had to open a page because of my job. We use it to check on perps and murder victims.

The newsroom is one of the the only departments that IT doesn't block. We post links to our photo galleries, food stories etc. Each section has their own page and quite a lot of followers.

I use it all the time now to keep in touch with friends, share photos and have private chats with several friends.

Last weekend at a Mardi Gras parade in Baton Rouge, we were walking the route ahead of the start and I saw a co-worker on the float that a lot of friends from work ride on. I saw her make a gesture and started shooting. Her boyfriend was asking her to marry him and I got photos of it.

When I came home I posted the series on fb, and she then shared it on her page so all her family and friends could see it within hours. She said they made her mom cry.

Some people are total assholes on fb, but then they are like that in real life too. It's easy to ignore them or make them go away.

I caved two years back and joined and am happy that i did.

Without it i never would have reconnected with my old college buddies. We all got together this weekend while i was in NY. The big guy on the right i literally had not seen since we graduated and it's been 15 years. Meanwhile we partied damn near every weekend with each other for 3 years. We got chocolate wasted..

I am. I like it. It may not be the thing for those with few friends or those whose friends and family live in a small, local setting.

For those loners, I recommend just going down to the service station and wait for friends and love ones to come in for gas or beer or whatever.
