Not on the same level, but about ten years ago during a cold mid-winter rainy day, I was hauling vehicles on a truck from Fresno to Sacramento, and stopped just south of Modesto at a truck stop for fuel and coffee. I saw a Mexican woman in her 30's digging in the trash cans out on the pump islands, looking for food. She had with her two daughters, about 6 and 8 years old, who were the saddest looking little girls I had ever seen. There was no hope or joy in their eyes. I approached her (she was NOT panhandling and didn't even see me) and tapped on her shoulder. She told me in broken English that her Husband had gotten them all across the border to work on a farm but he had gotten sick and died and they had been put out. I gave her a $20 and she immediately went inside the coffee shop to get a hot meal for her and her kids. She thanked my profusely. If I had had $50 on me at the time, I would have given her that.
Very proud and hard working people. Much harder working and more honorable than StoryTellerStealth, I'll bet.

I'm only partially heartless. I don't begrudge anyone a better life. My mother and her entire family were immigrants from a situation that makes picking strawberries look like a day at the beach, so no one gets to lecture me on the merits of immigration. They came over (with far less in their pockets than immigrant workers, BTW), learned the language, became U.S. citizens and basically followed the law of the land. What they didn't do is bitch about how they couldn't vote or have anchor babies to circumvent the citizenship process.

I often hear these veiled threats: "What if all the immigrants suddenly disappeared? Then who would cook food in restaurants or clean houses?" Now I realize that most Americans are too spoiled to pick strawberries for a living, but if push came to shove, people would do it. If we as a society were faced with that situation, there would be growing pains for sure, but I'm confident that a country that sent men to the moon using the computing power of a Casio watch would find a way to fix the problem.

When Obummer Care came into being, my local hospital overnight looked like a third world refugee camp. The medical professionals I spoke to were overwhelmed. My GP MD told me that the new people coming in were like a car driven for 100,000 miles with no maintenance. They had gone for so long with no preventive care, they needed tens of thousands of dollars of treatments per person. Totally ****ed. As stated, this rarely happens, due to both parties, specifically their donors, benefit from this.

When is the last time you saw an American kid mow the lawn, wash the cars, and work in fast food restaurants. Families with 4 teenage sons or sons in their 20's and having a gardener. Just recently you're starting to see American kids working in fast food places but still the minority.
They take jobs the American kids are to lazy to take while they live air home until mid 20's or until their 30's.

We didn't have this problem when i grew up because we started working legally at 15 after we had our paper routes when we were younger. And we didn't live at home when we were in our mid 20's or 30's.



The problem is the parents and how they babied their kids. The illegals took jobs the American kids didn't want FACT. Send your lazy ass kids to mow the lawns and wash the cars and work in fast food restaurants. And learn how to be a construction worker/Gopher as a kid and guess what? No jobs for the illegals.

This is 100% right on. Although in Fresno, which is backward CA (non progressive, family and education oriented) white kids do mow some lawns, and there are even white gardeners....one drives a red '68 El Camino as his work truck!
I'm 61, and we started out collecting and turning in bottles, moving to mowing lawns and weeding/cleaning up, and then to paper routes and helping on job sites, etc. Anything to make a buck. I have had white kids in my present neighborhood knock on my door and ask me if I needed any yardwork or clean-up done. In the 40 years I lived in the SF Bay area, that never happened. When I moved to Fresno 20 years ago, I was shocked to see families of 4 where the dad worked and the mom stayed home and actually raised the kids. People in the Bay Area hadn't been able to afford to live on a single family income for 30+ years.
