Rong. Create a stop so that the bottom plate can pivot on it. Could be wood blocking, or ropes to the opposite wall plate.

I made a PT porch railing -- NO GROUND CONTACT -- that rotted apart in about 10 years.

Nope, not needed, the plate pivots on the nails and lands right where it's supposed to be, then gets final nailing

Stick frame. Basically this, but with everything 16" on center, not 24", and one door in front with no windows:https://howtospecialist.com/outdoor/...to-shed-plans/

Side walls done. I think I'll do the sheathing on them next before doing the roof

That's how it should be done.

I suggest:
-run the sheathing horizontal (I assume plywood or OSB)
-and allow the sheathing to span the wall and pony wall yet built to make the shed roof. (some would also do the 1/2 gable ends as well)

I'm using OSB, and not really sure what the advantage would be to run them horizontal vs. vertical. Plus, if I run them vertical I will have to pieces left after cutting in front door opening to make the doors with. And yes, the sheathing will overlap the pony wall as well as the gables.

Technically and structurally...probably not much difference.
But running the sheathing horizontal and staggered can help keep the studs from bowing crooked. We also block at the 4' line so the sheathing is nailed along all edges.

We always have done it this way. It's a good habit to attach wood building materials perpendicular.
I assume you will run the roof sheathing perpendicular to the framing.

Yeah, if I were building a house I would consider that important enough to do, but not gonna bother on my shed.

Leftover vinyl siding from the house build. I think there is enough to do the whole building, but will buy what I need if there isn't.
