So it's safe to assume the "Bottom Line" is all that matters in your household budgets too correct? You donate NOTHING to charitable organizations because that would affect your bottom line. Furthermore you don't have the PR concerns so there is less motivation for the individual.

I would be willing to bet there are those of you who are going to hang a "Liberal" tag on me now, but you would be wrong. Having the opinion there is a little more to business than the bottom line does not make one a "Liberal"

Why would you make that leap? The two things are completely different.

A household is not a profit-making entity and it does not have shareholders, in a corporate sense.

That's the best I can do.

Fair enough answer.

Let me attempt to explain how I make the link. MY household is a profit making entity also. I need money to pay my mortgage, make my truck payment, buy guitars, motorcycles, cameras, breed dogs, and enjoy life. WITHOUT profit from my employer, I would not be able to do these things. My shareholders are myself, and my wife and her daughter.

IF ALL I WORRIED ABOUT WAS MY BOTTOM LINE, I would have no guitars, cameras, dogs, because all these endeavors affect MY bottom line.

I just feel everyone should be a little civic minded. From corporations right down to the individual. $$$ is certainly important, but not EVERYTHING.

And to reiterate, the government should not FORCE corporations to donate or organize civic events. They should stay out of it.

But the argument that "The bottom line is ALL THAT MATTERS" is short sighted.

I get where you are going. You didn't "form" your household to buy all that cool stuff plus copious amounts of haircare products, though.

In our case, we give from the corporation and after-tax, from our incomes.

I certainly didn't form a corporation with that as a stated intention, although I am glad we can.

Sounds good to me! Although you did say in a landslide but I'm very confident that it's not even going to be close. There hasn't ever been a president re-elected with the dismal numbers Obama has.

Most probably b/c it is life essential for you, like food and water, and I'm not sure about the food.

I understand why some people think businesses exist to benefit the community, that they are some sort of a social enterprise. Those people also think unicorns are really nifty and weep at double rainbows.

So lets ask him. Joecoool, do you think think businesses exist to benefit the community, that they are some sort of a social enterprise.

It's a yes or no question.

How is that assumption even remotely valid? As was said... my household is not a business. I have no shareholders, no investors, and no employees. You are trying to make parallels where there are none. Even if you were to make the ridiculous leap... my household would fall into the privately owned category, in which case I will now post for the 3rd time:

The part that you keep missing is PUBLICLY TRADED. If you invested money in "Bob's Company" stock, and in turn, Bob decided that instead of shareholder profit, the best use of the money was community projects... which unless it is s local company, aren't even your community... you would have no problem with it? You would be perfectly fine with what should YOUR money going to buy highway flowers in another state or to refurbish a house somewhere?

I have a feeling that you might choose to invest your money elsewhere. You know... somewhere that gives you a return on investment other than flowers in another state.

Never did I advocate shareholder profit should go towards flowers in another state or any other community project. Ever. Again, please make an attempt to understand my posts prior to banging out a response.

And that's the part YOU keep missing.

You don't have a dog in this fight since your ability to debate constructively is far beyond your capability. As I stated in an earlier thread, you're a one trick pony, and your trick is "Obama Sucks"

Try to contribute to this thread WITHOUT the rhetoric. Lets see if you have the chops.
