Going to a concert tonight
Not the usual kind, though. This is at the local High School. This school has long been known for it's excellent music program. They have a good Jazz Band and have graduated a number of students who are making a living as professional musicians. This year they have a new teacher and he formed a Mariachi band. My nephew is a senior and has taken up the guitar and is playing in the Mariachi band.
The thing is, he is not Mexican. Should be fun to watch. The other bit of drama going on is the new music teacher was arrested last week on a number of charges stemming from an "inappropriate relationship" with a 17 year old female student. He's 38. Kudos to the former music teacher who has come out of retirement to run the program so the kids could have their concert they have worked so hard to put on. |

Good concert tonight. Lots of talent for such a small high school. Saw the jazz band, concert band, mariachi band and the choir. Good kids, lots of work goes into this stuff. And a room full of proud parents.
