Nope, they teach you in Engineer training to not apply the brakes, if you hit something, then stop so you don't flatspot the wheels.

Many no0bs fail because of this, because a natural reaction is to brake. Unfortunately my Dad killed a 24 year old girl who was "late for work" when she drove around the crossing gates and he hit her in the drivers side front door at 58 mph.

Flat spotting wheels is a good thing when you are the number one producer of rail car wheels in the NA market. Loved those after market sales. Too bad so many people lack understanding of how long it takes a train to stop

I was the azzhole changing out the trucks, RR speak for traction motors.

We made wheels for locomotives and freight cars but we only made trucks for the freight cars.
