^ We may need a full body pic . . . just to be sure . . . for health reasons of course.

As long as you're happy and healthy that's all that matters; have fun shopping!

The mason jar salad is a great idea and you're using good ingredients too. I cut up a few roasted chickens from the store and put them into a tub. Then each morning I fill a big Ziploc container with field greens and cut-up chicken. That's lunch.

You don't need a website to count up your calories...you need one to help you make better food choices. I think you need to start with portion control before you start counting calories. Servings of any kind of meat should total no more than 4oz, and I see no mention of vegetables of any kind. On top of that there is what is likely a huge plate of pasta. So yeah, you're going to have some difficulties here.

It might be helpful to decide on a goal for yourself, then you can target what you need to do to get there (e.g. "I want to be a size 38 waist" or "I want to lose XX pounds"). You might also want to look up how much you should weigh. No matter what, it'll require an entire change of mindset.

Not if you go low carb. Meat, fat, it's OK. I eat at least 12 oz protien/fat every day. Pretty sure. Maintaining my svelt self at 220 /6'5".

Default Week 4 Update - 8 more to go!

Fourth week weigh in, and I'm down 16.4 lbs.

That puts me at 7.0% loss, and I moved up to FIRST place.
Did I mention the winner gets 250 bucks?

I'm up to 2.5 miles in 17 min. on the elliptical. I've just been adding one minute on the days I do it, so it's barely noticeable. Feels really good. Breathing is getting more controlled and my heart doesn't feel like it's going to explode as much as last Friday. My belt's moved 4 holes (1 5/8").

Default Week 5 Update

Fifth week weigh in, and I'm down 19 lbs. total

That puts me at 8.11% loss, but I moved down to second place. One of the big dudes had a real good week. I think I've peaked losing the easy weight, so I'm gonna have to step up my fitness game.

I'm up to 3.15 miles in 21 min. on the elliptical. I officially moved down to 38 waist pants (from 40) and my belt's moved 5 holes (2").

I can't decide if I should keep progressing to 30 minutes, or if I should start dialing up the tension on the elliptical and keep it at ~ 20 minutes. Any advice?

For week six I'm going to dust off the ol' Torso Track and give it whirl.

i lost 70lbs over about a year, as noted above, the only exercise was walking the dog, 3-5 times a day, 15-20 min each time. just ate better and ate less. watch what you eat.

I just barely started going to the gym. Took me 17min to do a mile on the treadmill, and now down to 14min.

Yeah, I know miles on a no impact elliptical don't really compare to actually walking or running, but hey it's something right?

I don't know, I'll have to try the elliptical

I've only gone a few times. It's hard starting

My machine has different levels of tension, and sixteen lighted columns that flash and count down based on the time you set. So I plug in my time, and I do four reps at four different speeds. The first light I do legs with arms, and target a speed of ~ 9.5 mph. The second light I do legs only and shoot for ~10.5 mph. The third light I add arms again, and do a nice ~ 8.5 mph. The fourth light I cool down a bit, legs only at ~7.5 mph. Then I do 3 more reps of that as the light columns continue to "count" down. So far I've been set to the easiest tension setting, so I'm trying to figure out if I should continue to increase the time, or dial back the time and gradually increase the tension. Honestly, at 5 in the morning 20 minutes feels like enough! However, I want to keep my body guessing and take it up a notch each week or so, so I don't plateau. I still think I need to get rid of ~35 lbs. extra weight/fat.

Default Week 6.5 Update

I took the day off last Friday, so no weigh in. Now I'm taking off tomorow, and already off Thurs. & Fri., so today I did an early week 7 weigh in.

I'm now down 23 lbs. total (9.81% loss), and moved down another hole on the belt. I need a new shorter belt, because the amount of extra is starting to get silly.

No exercise to speak of, as I've been doing a lot of vehicle repairs that have caught up to me. It's amazing how contorting yourself under/over a vehicle for hours on end can awaken muscles and pain that you never knew existed. I'm not sure what's in worse shape . . . my 92 F-150 beater or my 40 y.o. body.

Forgive me Fat Camp for I have sinned. I broke out of camp for a week and I am spending Thanksgiving vacation at my parent's house. I only packed gym shorts and old fat jeans.

Default Week 8 Update

Week 8 weigh in, and I'm down 26.2 lbs. total (11.18% loss) and holding first place, albeit by a small margin.

Who knows, I just might break the 200 lb barrier by the end of the 12 weeks.

Edit: I cut out the mid morning snack of a Nature Valley bar a few weeks ago, and substituted with a handful of almonds. I also cut out the Friday donut a couple weeks ago, as it was making me feel sick to my stomach. I didn't see that coming! Body knows best I suppose.

Default Week 10 Update

There really wasn't anything to report for Week 9, as I only went down 0.2 lbs.

However, Week 10 shows progress:

I'm down a total of 30 lbs. (12.8% loss) and moved two holes on the belt since Week 8. That's a total of 3 1/4" off the belt so far.

I'm still holding the #1 spot, and have widened the margin to where I'm fairly confident I can pull this off.

No weigh in next week, since the office will be closed for three days.
Hopefully the last weigh in (Jan.5th) will have me sitting a smidge under the 200 lb. mark.
