Small Claims court and HP

I was just wondering if anyone has had any luck with small claims court and big corporations. I am not sure what to do about problems I have been having with a desktop i bought. Here is what happened...
4/13 i bought an HP H8 desktop at Best Buy. It was the best model they had at the time capable of photoshop and light room, etc for a out $1000.

5/13 numerous problems including it freezes up in sleep mode and runs slow. Hp sent me a new hard drive to install.

7/13 numerous calls to tech support. Reseated ram and reloaded windows through tech support. Had to send it in for motherboard and video card replacement. Received it with cosmetic damage and they didn't even hook anything back up. I had to hook up usb plugs, etc. they gave me an extended warranty for my trouble.

1/14 computer freezes again after running poorly last 2 months. I had to disable sleep mode a few months prior since it was causing problems. Now it is totally gone. They are sending a tech to replace the motherboard again.

This is my wife's business computer for photography editing. No computer means no income for her. HP won't replace it. I have had enough and I'm tired of being yanked around over this POS. The majority of higher level cs reps talk to you like they are doing you a favor and are. complete jerks.

I am looking at what options i have at this point. How many efforts at repair are reasonable. Three major failures in 8 months is enough for me.

Best Buy's return policy has long since expired. I think it is only a week or two.

I was part of a class action suit against Compaq/HP regarding laptops that were crap and had bad video cards in them. I returned a 3 year old laptop to them and in return received a brand new replacement that was better than what I returned. That was about 3 years ago and the new laptop is now a POS just like the old one. They build crap. They have been riding on a far outdated reputation for a long time and mark my words, the entire company is going to be gone before you know it. They should exit the PC home market and focus on servers etc, although those ar eprobably no better, at least it is what they are investing their attention in.

I wonder what in hell happened to HP, that they apparently dumped all their fine high quality test gear line, all the Cal/scope/generator shit used in all the electronic labs for decades.....

I guess the Orient outfits took that over....????

OP, I'd go for it. Just understand that HP may hire a pack of lawyers who will probably beat you in Court. Suing them is better than just taking it lying down. Be sure to ask for some punitive damages...but within the monetary jurisdiction of the Court.

From what I have read, if you have a reasonable case against them, they contact you to settle prior to the hearing rather than paying a team of lawyers three time the price of the settlement. However, I plan on preparing by watching Liar a few times ,learning some big words with lots of syllables, and bringing a flask.

It's been my experience (based only on two HP desktops) that the hardware isn't too bad but all the crap they add to the OS just kills any performance.

Both ran well and were reliable after I deleted 90% of the HP add on software programs.

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time suing a huge corporation over $1,000.

Do they still sell the same model at Best Buy? If so, I'd go buy a new one, keep it and return the POS.

The New HP is nowhere near the same. I was a supplier to them for sometime, Still do, but their quality demands are nowhere near what they were before the Agilent spin off.
