In this area kids used to run over the mailboxes (or hit them with a baseball bat) late at night every couple years.

I have buried a vehicle or two in the mud. One of the lessons I learned is if you do sink one like that, don't leave it overnight if it is freezing...or it will be there until the spring thaw. I also learned that if it is freezing weather, all you need to do is jack the car up onto boards, let it sit until the ground freezes, and simply drive it out normally.

Ha did this one better. I made my new mailbox look like the old one at my old house, but I built it from solid steel. I would love to see one of the little pricks hit it with a baseball bat Broken arm would be fun to see

They rocked the mailbox back and forth to pry the metal base apart so they could rip it down!


That's ok the new mailbox will be fixed so that can't happen again!

i once built a mailbox post, some time passed, and then a UPS truck with an improperly set parking brake hit it......put a large gash in the side of the truck, post was used for another 10 years before i replaced it with a more stylish version.

new version (we have since moved). cedar over a 4x4 sunk 24" into the ground. go ahead, hit it, i dare you.
