Cat Survives Shock, 25-Foot Fall From Power Pole

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Apr 9, 2015, 10:39 PM ET


The owner of a 17-pound Siamese cat named Liam says he has nearly used up his nine lives after getting shocked on a power pole in Grants Pass and falling 25 feet.

Jennifer Kagay tells The Grants Pass Daily Courier she and her husband were lying in bed early Tuesday when they heard a "bang" and the power went out.

Her husband, Jeff, went outside and the cat was lying still on the transformer at the top of the pole. They were relieved when Liam started to move, but horrified when he fell 25 feet to the ground. On the way down, he snagged a wire with a claw, then landed softly in some brush.

The Kagays took him to the vet, where he may have to have one leg amputated.

Siamese are known for their longevity, however.

My friend's parent's Siamese passed away sleeping on a heat register... aged 24.

Around here we loose squirrels/tree rats to the HV top line feeding the pole transformers....loud POW like a shotgun/rifle, and we know some group of homes is without power.....dead rat bottom of pole.....

The way cats tempt fate on a daily (hourly?) basis I think they have 900 lives instead of 9.

Stupid Diddley has taken from the kitchen table chairs, to the table, to the top of Linda's recliner, to the top of the TV cabinet, and then lays in front of the TV in the EXACT position to block the TV remote and the cable box takes off, so we have to swipe her outta the way to regain control.....
