any Foosball players in this group?
I'm thinking of getting back into it. Last time i played was in the late 1980's.
New twist; some tables have 3 goalies on the last bar instead of one. I wonder which config is more prevalent in the US ? |

I started playing in college in the early 70s on a European table of some kind. Played a lot there and into the early 80s. Early on I always played goalie but later I got pretty good up front.
We had a big game room in the 90s and bought a nice arcade quality Dynamo table. Kept it until a couple years ago when I sold it to a guy opening a bar. I haven't played seriously in a very long time. |

thanks !
I am about ready to spend 2 large on a new table; just can't decide if it should be the one goalie or three goalie version. I mean, I only ever played on a one goalie... but everything I've read says that in the US... the 3 goalie version is the most played in the 21st century. |

Didn't even know 3 goalie tables were a thing. Did a quick google and sounds like no ramps in the corners. Would definitely change the game a bit. Guessing there are add in ramps that you could use or fab up and just remove two goalies. Might have to relocate the bumpers too??

the three goalie version:
* the outer two goalies can't block a straight shot... they don't move in far enough. * the playfield is completely flat, no ramps in the corners. * only advantage the 3 goalie is supposed to give is on the offense. Also makes it easier to pass the ball up to your next bar. The Tornado 3000 table (which is used for most of the US tournaments) can be converted to a one goalie config. |

A good friend of mine has a foosball table from the 70's. It has 1 goalie. He also has a air hockey table and a arcade pin ball machine. When he has get togethers all three are in use.

I just took the plunge, ordered a Tornado 3000. Dude told me that 99% of foosball tables he sells are the 3 goalie version. . Also mentioned that Tournaments in the US use the 3 goalie version.
Last foosball table I bought was in the late 1970's ! |

I wish I had discovered that game when I was young and had not yet drank away most of my coordination and reflexes.
I was a badass air hockey player. |
