Default Going bald...

So, TVBOT folks who are losing / have lost your hair...when did you notice it? How quickly did it occur?

I had sort of an amusing experience in the last month or so. I learned that I am losing my hair. I learned this during a haircut. The barber mentioned it being thin up top and showed me in a mirror. there is a bald spot where my hair used to swirl around on top and things are getting thin. I asked Mrs. P about it when I got home...she said that it has been in progress for about 2 years.

What is really funny.... is that I seriously had no idea. I could not see or feel it (I can feel it now) and nobody, including my wife, ever mentioned it. It is certainly not a surprise. It is the same male pattern baldness that my dad has. Exactly the same. It does not bother me at all...I am just amazed that I could be so clueless.

Anyone have a similar experience?

I have as much hair now as I always have had. It just grows in different places.

And I always heard a man's baldness came from his mother's side of the family. Not really sure if that's true or not.

I'm not going bald, but I started getting some gray in my facial hair at around 30. My dad started thinning out in his late 40's early 50's I believe.

I have a buddy who is 34 who probably started going bald at 30. He keeps it very short now.

I appreciate that Pete...you are a true asshole (with no broken spokes) I figure that I need about 9 square inches of coverage. How many weeks will that take?

I am 36...so, I guess that mine has been in progress since 34 or so. Not much gray in my family, but a fair amount of bald. It is either all or nothing. Some lose it early, some keep it forever.

Just don't be one of those guys who is bald up top but grows it long on the sides. I was in a meeting today with two of those guys. Looks ridiculous.

I have another friend who is 30 and basically bald. He's a football coach and keeps his head buzzed. He looks younger than he did when he had hair.

I am not going to try Rogain or anything. As I mentioned, I do not really mind losing the hair. I probably would not look good with a tight clipper or shave job when the time comes. I promise TVBOT that I will not do the "comb over." I am probably 5-10 years from that point anyway.

I started thinning in my early 20s. I gave it a shot.

Started going with the clippers in my mid 30s.

I agree. A lot of lawyers do that for some reason. I will not.

Thats one way of looking at it Bruce Willis but every woman Ive talked with says shed rather have a nice thick head of hair to run her fingers through.

You also have to work with what youve got..in your case..you have a bald head..you might want to think about joining a skinhead group or being the front man for Sinead O'Connor.
