I love jalapenos. Might have to go this route for tomorrow night.

If I know I'll be drinking vodka, I put the bottle in the freezer an hour or so before use. Icy-cold martinis are the crystal nectar of the Gods.

I keep all of my vodkas and gin in the deep freezer so they are always nice and cold.

Round 2's version is really good!

I didn't really care for the round 1 version. The gin is a little too strong for my tastes. The extra olive juice rounded the taste out just right for my palate.

What does "dry" mean, in the Martini sense of the word?

dry = little vermouth (if any)
wet = more vermouth

"Dry" refers to a low sugar content, as vermouth is "fruity" or "sweet". Dry and Sweet are the opposite ends of the spectrum, as true for wines as well.

This is why, when you order a "dry martini", you get one with little vermouth. Indeed, I was taught to drink martinis by an Irish Catholic chaplain in the USAF...he told me, "Ya don' use vermouth, boyo, ya jus' bless 'em!" and made the sign of the cross before raising his glass.

I occasionally miss my youth.

Nice!

That pic also answers the question I posted earlier about keeping the pimentos in the olives.

Fixed. Also, we Yankees do not use bacon-stuffed olives.

You really have to try a lot of different martinis before you can have your own "perfect" martini. I love queen olives and the different styles of queen olives.
