I get that. My dad was the same way - he could have retired years before he did, but they kept paying him the big bucks so he kept going in to the office. Eventually it tapered off to half days and then finally he retired altogether. But as long as the $$$ keep rolling in it makes sense to ride that wave all the way to the shore.

How much money is a enough? I live comfortably, working to make more money too get in my way of kicking back and chilling is not enough money.

Lots of Boomers are going to outlive their 401Ks. It doesn't hurt to keep making hay while the sun shines. And if you end up with more than you need, your children get a nice little windfall. Win-win.

As long as you enjoy the work it's fine. Unlike me, my dad doesn't have many hobbies, so when he quit working boredom set in right away. Me OTOH I could quit working TODAY and still have my days completely full of fun little projects to work on.
