Default After 13 Years, I Have The Best Weeds Around.....

.......in the neighborhood. My acre+ lawn has always been unsightly, blotchy dry spots, brown patches, bare spots, just basically looked like crap, I didn't really care, have no one to impress with a oretty lawn, since all the neighbors have the same. I really don't have what you call regular grass.

In the beginning, tried a little lawn care, weed killer, nutrients, whatever, but that was a waste of money. Not having an irrigation system in the ground, I was not about to water an acre everyday, so screw it.

After 13 years now, I know I have the best crab grass, wire grass, clover, and what is called "field grass" around. I call it just weeds.

The spots have filled in, the vegetation is thick, and from a distance, looks like a nice lawn.

Looks great Norm

I despise the residential irrigation systems. Had them for decades. PITA.

My view is…if it’s green it’s good. And yours looks good and green.

The way I look at it…it’s all grass when it’s mowed to the same height.

When I had a small yard the front I kept very nice, the back yard was horrible but who cares.
Now with acres to take care of I also just shoot for not dead.
I keep it mowed down and roundup the fence lines.

For some damn reason, the lawn has gone super DEAD in spots, not even weeds, and we have tried a fair amount to get something to grow....no go....wife wants to plant it ALL as a flower garden now....if it's green, it's weeds, not grass.....not even the type to smoke......

(Hushed golf voice)

Yes Gary, the fairway looks spectacular, but the camera hides a lot of problems with this course. And you really want to stay out of the second cut. They lost a 4 year old kid for 6 hours during the pro-am on Tuesday. And it’s really tough on the irons, dulls the faces very fast.

An irrigated, tightly manicured, monoculture grass lawn, is about the most un-natural thing you can grow.

Thank the French royalty and aristocracy for that idea.

None. After years of cutting, I guess whatever seed the weeds have left, germinated in the bald spots.

My yard is a fraction of yours, and I'm considering killing it and putting gravel. The grass is like X-mas lights for others to enjoy.

I have done everything to make my lawn nice. Its all BS. Trees , of which I have, eat most of the nutrients the grass needs.
So, I have kept my irrigation system off for years. Nothings changed.
I let mother nature water it, and it is the same. Its green, but has fricking weeds in it. No idea how to kill, so I gave up.

I had a beautiful weed free lawn with sickly little trees. The healthier the trees got, the worse the lawn got. I stopped giving a damn. The only time it bothers me is when someone visits and that rarely happens.
