Default People I have known.....

After reading Thrakks "Campfire"threads, I became inspired to share a few of the people I have known. (Thanks and kudos, Thrakk )
And no Cliffs.
My wife says I oughtta write a book about the "Underside" of the city.
Pass.

Some back ground: I only had one job my entire life. I began working at my Dads scrap metal business in down town Atlanta when I was 14 and stayed there until my brother and I sold out / retired when I was 51. It was in one of the most violent areas of the city.

The people you'll meet in these threads are/were real people, and for the most part, are/were winos, drug addicts, hookers and psychos that sold me aluminum cans, etc. to help support their habits. Some names I don't remember, or I'll remember first/last/street names.
I saw some shit you wouldn't believe. Gallows humor at its finest, poignant situations that surpised me, and a few tear jerkers as well. I have hundreds of these stories.
If you can't live with the language, skip over these threads.

Isaac and his group came in my shop one day to sell their monthly accumulation of malt liquor cans. 4 large bags of "Olde English".
His group consisted of a granddaughter, his son, and a couple of "Hangers on".
We got the cans weighed, his ticket written, and he headed over to the pay window to get his money, already arguing with his group on how the money was to be divided up.
All $12 of it.
For a small, older, black man, Isaac was spry, foul mouthed, and not scared of anyone in his group, and let them know it. The argument intensified to the point where Isaac popped his granddaughter (In her mid 30's) upside the head to get his point across. I yelled at them to take it outside and keep that shit to themselves. Muttering curses and threats amongst themselves, the got their $$$ and walked out to the parking lot. Isaac then informed them that they could walk their sorry asses to the house and to get dafuk outta his car. His group had no intention of walking, and let him know.
All this time, moi was standing on the dock watching and snickering while the old man gave them holy hell.
There were more threats, more demands for their "cut", as well as plenty of obscene gestures and instructions as to what sexual act they could perform on themselves.
The situation went from humorous to deadly serious in about 1 second when Isaac produced a small, chrome plated automatic and began waving it around while ordering his group outta his fukkin'car.

Rule #1......See a gun, take cover.......fast.

I quickly ducked back inside in time to hear 2 quick shots and a scream. Then some heavy duty cussing. Fearing that Isaac had smoked someone in his group, I peeped out the door.
And saw..........Isaac rolling around on the ground, swearing a blue streak, ........with 2 bullet holes in his right foot. The stupid bastard had shot himself. I asked them if they wanted me to call Grady Hospital, they said no, they would take him. They took his keys (and pistol), tossed him in the backseat, and took off......cussing, laughing, and drinking malt liquor.

I'd have to think about this for a while but one that immediately comes to mind is a guy that lived by my aunt's house. Her name was Sonja, but she was called "Sonny" by this neighbor. Actually, he called her "Thunny", because of a lisp. He had some mental issues but was fairly harmless....fairly.

He would shout at her from the stop sign on the corner and when she would look his way, he would play the stop sign post like a stand up bass. You could hear him shouting at the top of his lungs..."Hey Thunny, hey Thunny". She would look and he would play. As soon as she looked away, he would start shouting again. If she looked, he would play some more. If she would ignore him he would begin violently shaking the stop sign like he was trying to tear it out of the ground. I remember him getting that thing whipping back and forth like it was in a hurricane. At least a 1 - 2 foot swipe from side to side. He was one of those "retarded strong" people. I recall my uncle and my dad going over to that sign to imitate him and they couldn't get it to budge more than about 6 inches either way. He would approach the house every now and then and his ONLY, and I mean ONLY topic of discussion was Polka music. He'd finish giving his Polka information and updates and move on back home.

Don't know if I'm supposed to post my own stories, or just comment on the OP's story. Assuming posting my own is permitted, here's one: I grew up on a farm. lived in a house on a gravel road. A mile or so down the road lived a "special needs" man, named "Toop". Toop was in his 30's, always wore overalls with no shirt underneath and no shoes. The legs in his overalls were always rolled up to his calves.

No matter what the weather, you would see him running down the middle of the gravel road...holding an automobile steering wheel in his hands in front of him...making car noises. We'd wave at him. He never waved back...just concentrated on his driving.
