Default Collapse of nations. Something to ponder

Read an article the other day that talked about collapse. The writer said that it doesn’t happen in one big event. He said it happens all around you but you don’t notice. You go to work. You go on a date. You notice on the news a bombing or shooting. You go grocery shopping.

You hear rising crime stats. But for the average person things don’t seem to change. By the time you notice, it’s full on collapse. Then it’s too late. Yet even still, life goes on. Perhaps more cops, checkpoints, higher crime, more mass casualty events, but always somewhere other than where you are.

Unemployment often follows but most things remain as they are. Busses run. Planes fly. Business continues. Power outages become more common. But generally things stay normal.

I’ll try to find the article. I thought it was interesting.

I think we are in a collapse right now. DC knows it (hence NG at White House) and hasty gun laws by EO.

I’m getting a lesson in prepping as I type this. We have had about five hours of power in two days with temps 15-20°

Grocery stores laid bare, gas run out at stations, cell service down more often than up. Generator didn’t work. Needs total rebuild. Needed chainsaw. Ice prohibits driving (and I’m from Wyoming. I know how to drive on it and have 4X4 but it is black ice.) vehicles covered in one inch of solid ice.

Didn’t have firewood. Need more candles. Stovetop works but oven does not. Washing machine frozen pipes. House rapidly loses heat. From 72 down to 63 in under thirty min.

Temps will be over 40 by Friday but that doesn’t mean power, gas and food will come back on line. I bet we have another week living like cavemen.

If you don’t prep, it’s time to start. Food, water, supplies, ammo, guns, clothing. More than you think you will need.

I have a buddy near Tyler. Not even a blip in the radar for him. Small farm, cows, chickens, greenhouse, creek, PTO driven generator with enough juice for several homes, and ample supply of diesel. Our country is in serious trouble, and most of the populace fails to realize it. If you are short on emergency foods, guns and ammo, etc. you are indeed late to the ballgame. One thing I find disconcerting is, if the shooting actually breaks out, exactly how do you know who the enemy is? People talk a lot of smack, but things are infinitely more complicated than 1861, and there will be no uniformed armies meeting on the battlefield. Politicians have damn sure ruined our country, but then again, the takers keep voting them in. There are no easy solutions.

The vast majority of people are sheep and won't fight. Those who are prepared and willing will win. Collapse of the country is not something I worry about. I prepare for hurricanes since that's the main threat where we live, but I don't worry about much else.

I have said for the longest that America is a powder keg with a lit fuse. It pains me to look at it that way, and I'm just sitting back watching. I don't let it have any bearing on my every day life, but I just don't see how we can sustain for the duration. Our economy is propped up by a fiat currency, leaders who are in it for themselves, and a large portion of our society that contributes zilch. America is about ripe for a breakdown. How, when, and to what magnitude, is anyone's guess.

That is sort of my point. Most people won’t even notice it. Until the zombies.

This is exactly why the Dems stole the election. Trump needed a second term to finish getting everything in place to clean house.

Installing Xiden has ****ed this country. The country doesn't know it yet.

I must be an optimist. I just feel that things will get so bad with Biden or some other liberal president that the reasonable (hopefully a majority) democrats will turn and realize that a conservative approach is all that will solve our problems. Iam hoping for some kind of reckoning.

But then, There may not be enough "reasonable" liberals there, and we could in fact be doomed.

This country will get back on Its feet. Same thing was said during the Civil War, the depression, WWII, during the late 60's and early 70's. Nothing new under the sun.

Got to avoid the fallout though. Welfare dependents, crooked financiers, etc. Other than that, I'm looking forward to seeing these corrupt systems fail. Just hope we don't get something worse on the other side.

“The political left has committed itself to a fantasy world; a parallel universe. They deeply believes in things that never happened, and treat those beliefs as sacrosanct. Why? Probably because their movement is infected with people that are easily manipulated by word redefinitions and false associations. Are they victims of propaganda? Sure. Are they innocent? No, not really.” - B. Smith

Talking to a yellow dog democrat friend of mine not long ago about Biden being president. I told him that the economy will crash soon. He asked why I cared. Then he sneared, oh, you mean your 401k. Like that was something the rich worry about. He watches msnbc constantly. That is probably where he learned to loathe those relying on 401k or non governmental pension plans.

I bet those on such government pension plans and others getting support just care less about the economy crashing.

He is dependent on a government pension for his living. Retired police/politician.

That got me thinking.

What percentage of democratic voters are dependent upon the government for their income. I am talking about those who have earned it (as he certainly has_) and those who it is given to.

That would be interesting to me.

True story and I receive a pension from the government for service in the Army. I also own a small business and have for almost 30 years.

The government has gotten crazy big and powerful, the people running the show are either wholly divorced from reality or intentionally destroying the private sector, the source of everyone's "real" wealth, including theirs.

I got into it with a friend that is retired AF and almost ready to retire from civil service. Dude said he felt so much better turning on the TV now that Trump was out of office because he was a "racist". I asked him for evidence and he just got that glassy eye look and then got mad. FWIW, he's from Texas and looks like a biker, wouldn't expect him to be a liberal but for some reason, there are a lot of them in government.

I asked him real basic questions about his and my pension and how inflation was going to affect them. He didn't even know how money is created in our system so zero understanding of purchasing power in relation to pension promises, etc. A nice guy but really ignorant and just another megaphone for CNN.

I got him to download a link to some monetary videos and a promise to watch them. We'll see.

It is "funny" how people hate Trump and can't justify why.
