Don't have kids before you get married, always live up to your word and commitments, be punctual and respectful of others, live within your means, invest in real estate as soon as you can if you want long term wealth and security, and never lie, even if it hurts someone.

I learned this stuff pretty much from my parents, the theme being it was hard to build up a reputation but very easy to destroy it. So for me, it was all about being responsible.

The world doesn't owe anybody anything. It's up to you. You can have and do anything you want if you put in the work and effort. (black victims take notice of this line)

I used a variation on this with my employees. I would tell them not to approach me with a problem unless they had a solution to go with it. It was surprisingly effective and offered more than a few improvements in processes etc.
