Problem solved...
I'm am paying $2,000 cash tomorrow to buy GWiz's grandparent's car (1996 Infiniti I30) from her uncle. He lives next door. Car is worth by KBB 785-1200, but we're getting a garage space in return. Her BRZ will now be garaged, rather than sitting in my driveway with 2 covers on it. Car needs tires, battery, cv boots, and a starter, but I can do all of that very easily in my garage. Paint is EXTREMELY shiny. Car only has 78,000 miles on it. Being automatic, wife can be the co-driver to/from Texas, and with the small value of the car, if something nasty happens in Houston, big effing deal. From 2 feet, this car is cherry. Beige/Gold in color, which is , but it is what it is. I'll likely put an additional $1,000 into the car in the next month, but it's otherwise perfect. When her internship concludes, it's my choice to sell it, or keep it. I have no pressure to sell it. All 3 of us are on board with this decision. Bob's roofing company currently has their truck in his driveway blocking the removal of this car, so I can't start on it tomorrow, but I'll share pictures when I take possession. |

Talk low miles, our Trailblazer SS only has 21K on the odometer. It is a 2008, wife does not work and just uses it to get groceries or an occasional trip to see her niece in SD.

A lot can go wrong with driving a 23 year old car across country, even a nice, clean, garage kept, 23 year old car. Personally, I'd rather drive the 5 year old car with low miles. Of course, there's the issue of having her clothes and personal effects shipped, because I doubt you can hold a whole lot in a Miata. You'd have to factor in the very real possibility of breakdowns at inopportune times and the issue of parts availability.
