Have you seen the video of the surfer being arrested? We're beyond following the law now. Everybody initially bought into and participated in complying with edicts and 'we're all in this together,' until we started figuring out that what is happening is tin pot dictators are making diktats just for the fun of it, and people like the judge who told the hairdresser to grovel, step and fetch and he'd waive jail flex their muscles too.

That right there proved this had nothing to do with public safety and all about compliance. Libertarians like me always discuss which side the police will be on if things really go to shit. Unfortunately, the Wu flu hysteria has shown us that there are plenty of police who will NOT side with the people.

Exactly. They aren't "rights" if the government can take them away at any time for no reason at all. Here in the US, I was taught we were supposed to have "rights". Our current government apparently disagrees with that, and millions of Americans are OK with it, because of a totally misguided idea that the government can protect them from a virus.

You know, I was initially in support of flattening the curve. But the more I think about it, aren't these government mandated shutdowns unconstitutional? Where are the laws that allow a governor to shut down some but not all businesses? Shouldn't it all be voluntary? And arresting small business owners TRYING to stay afloat? No one is forcing anyone to go to her salon. Here in AZ several sheriffs have gone on record saying they would refuse to arrest small business owners for defying the shutdown. This whole thing needs a good public discussion when we are out of this thing.

I don't know where the hysteria is coming from regarding opening up. It is as if suddenly people that never went to a bar or restaurant, or hair salon, are going to be marched in at gunpoint and made to touch things and stand shoulder to shoulder and breathe on each other. For fk sake if it is opened, everyone has the OPTION to stay home. Are there special "church" germs that we are not being told about?
