Cancelling rent will mean my family will go hungry, and if my contractors are primarily servicing rental properties, they will go hungry too.

This is typical liberal bullshit. As long as it "sounds good" and sounds like we are going to take a chunk out of some rich person's hide, then we should pursue it. Unfortunately in this case, they will only kill the middle class, again.
I've seen the arguments for this.
There are more renters than landlords, so it's better to sacrifice them.

And what happens to these sacred tenants when the building is falling down around them, the lawn hasn't been cut in months, the hedges have overgrown the driveway, the bushes are blocking the front and side doors, and the town forecloses on the house because I can't pay the property taxes but they don't have the money to fix up the place because nobody has been paying them?

People that think this is a good idea don't look past the first of the month.
Or, you should continue to do it because you are a rich landowner and can afford it.

I think you've nailed the mindset here.

I really do wonder what people think I do with the money I collect in rent. Do they think I roll a big cigar with $100 bills and sit on my deck smoking it?

running on a gold standard (or silver) sounds great, until you have a trade deficit with say France, and every week they show up and demand their ton of gold from your vault, and then haul that back to Paris. you keep that up, and your vault will be empty over time.

this is what happened in the 1970s.

Repudiate ALL debt, or at least from any and all .gov entities.......Fed on down to local board.....

Issue new currency, reset the computers, individuals/companies can then feel free to renegotiate their contracts......

point being that the regular folks cease to pay stupid high payments to the bazillionaire families, Rockefeller, Gates, Rothschild, Ford, long list......

which are the owner of our taxes/gov debt.......they continue to be rich alright....so no real issue, the trick is our tax load is greatly reduced.....

just a few thoughts on how that could be accomplished, and not keep forcing more inflation and debt as it's all phony numbers anyway....50 trillion bux.....really?? more like ten billion pennies.....

Did you notice the ratio of our barn bucks? Yeah, our net worths are probably about the same ratio.

I am without a mortgage now. I used the proceeds of the sale of my 3 family, to pay off the mortgage on my 2 family. Not having that anvil around my neck is nice.

The government comes along and takes the property and then has more control of the people.

Hell yeah, we have 32 months left and that isn't set in stone. I would like to shorten that time greatly, it has to be a great feeling.

Not having a mortgage payment is nice, yes. But you still have your property, school and state taxes.

Was hoping to pay off the 'Mero this year and the RAM next year, but without working right now, that's not likely to happen.

Property taxes are up there but it's Il in a good school district, we knew what we were getting into. Still cheaper than private school. All taxes suck. , but to get the mortgage to go away would be a big bonus. Only one more kid to get through school then all having loans goes away.
