I hate to admit it, but probably go cheap is the answer. With 3/4 acre and really only using it to mow, $4-5K for a mower doesn't make sense. I was hopeful the XT2 was a little bit better than the other bid box store models

The ones with a belt drive seem to be constructed quite cheaply regardless of what color they paint them.

My lot is just under an acre. I mow every week with a 1968 Cub Cadet model 125. 12 hp, hydro drive and a 42" deck. Does a great job ( although not fast ) and will probably last decades more.

maybe see if you can find a used XT3 that fits the budget or an older Cub

Good idea on the used one, I should have bought one of my FILs JDs, lookign back on it now, they were definitely the better models and were like new

Sold the cub cadet. Facebook marketplace got it 1200 views in 48 hours. Had 15 offers on it. Sold it to the first guy to show up with money

Need throw rugs then....warm feet in the middle of the night, hitting the can or going computer, that HURTS!!!!!! so leave the W/W carpeting and save the effort.....
