while there may be a mid-engined sports car from GM... it won't be the "next Corvette model". Instead, an additional car in the lineup... like Fords GT was/is.

You can't build a mid engined performer (and no, the Pontiac Fiero or Fiat X1/9 were not serious performance machines like the Corvette is) for under $85k MSRP. The current 2019 base C7 is $55,500. If this mid-engined car were to be the next gen Corvette (and not an additional model).. production would fall to 8-9k units per year at that higher ... (+$30k) msrp.

The driveway had a slight curve and the exec put the mule into the wall.

In defense of the Fiero....it was a nice little car....and comfy for my 6'5" 225 arthritic frame.....it was an '88 Formula automatic, and it scooted off pretty well in the lights, even in rain......

damn decent car, all around.....

While I cannot fault your logic, never underestimate GM's lack of logic. While I really hope you are right, it's entirely possible they will ruin a great thing.
