I saw one streaking along the North Carolina coast when I was in the Coast Guard. It probably lasted the whole length of the state. It was beautiful changing colors as it travelled.

About 20 minutes later the phone calls started coming in reporting a distress flare. Oh well, as good an excuse as any to go out for a boat ride

Stepped outside to meet the pizza guy , seen it streaking across the sky. Fast, bright and got real bright ( green/red ) in color. Most impressive meteor I've seen. Was awesome.

Saw it last night when we were returing home. Wasn't sure what I saw till I saw the 10:00 news. Very bright and only lasted a few seconds.

Saw a few of the videos on youtube.... I've seen a few similar events in my lifetime.

These are probably rather small, like the size of a baseball or something. NOTHING like the one in Russia.

Me and my wife were driving southbound on I-81 outside of Salem, VA and saw a meteor a week ago on the 16th that was the brightest one I've ever seen in my life. No it wasn't as bright as that Russian one and it did not give off a sonic boom, but it was bright, lasted a good while, and was relatively slow too.

I got on the internet and saw where other people mentioned seeing it too. Here's a link talking about it. Large Fireball Reported from NC, SC, TN on March 16th, 2013 | American Meteor Society

You just don't go onto the internet and report seeing just any old shooting star.

Now there is another fireball reported? There seems to be a slight increase in these things don't you think?

It was bright, bright green and headed south.
