Default EV Range in the cold

After this week of nasty snowy, cold, windy slushy weather the Hummer is holding up great. For those who complain about EV's, this thing only lost about 2% at the most in range. I have been averaging 1.7 miles per KW and haven't seen much if any degradation with the cold on the range.
The Hummer is a Beast in the snow. Amazing how good it drives and plows thru the snow.

At close to 55 cents per Kwh where I live, that is more expensive than our overpriced gasoline.

The Hummer has some advantage in cold weather compared to other EV's. GM decided that they didn't want to make the vehicle more efficient, so they achieved the amazing range (for a vehicle of that size and weight) by slapping a 220 kwh battery into it (more than twice what I have in my Model X Plaid).
The better the efficiency of an EV, the higher the impact of accessory use.
If the heater pulls 4 kw in a Model X, it's reduces the range twice as much in a Model X than in a Hummer EV even if their HVAC consumes the same energy.
No matter if it's AC or Heat or any other accessory, accessory use affects the more efficient vehicles more than the less efficient ones.
Tesla and Lucid focus on making vehicles as efficient as possible, requiring a smaller battery to get a longer range. However, the down side is that accessory use will have a higher impact. There is only so much you can do to improve HVAC efficiency.

Don't they have peak/off-peak plans in your area?

Around here, it's like 12 cents per kwh for the regular plan and price goes up if you use over 1000 kwh per month and even more over 2000 kwh.
I have a peak/off-peak plan where I pay 5.3 cents per kwh nights, weekends and holidays. Peak is about 8 hour per work day and 14 hours off peak.
Peak is 17 cents per kwh right now and off peak 5.3 cents per kwh

Some sports car owners buy it to get laid to compensate for coming in short in the size department.. Just saying.. I have always bought cars for their performance and not because I wanted to compensate.. I know that some do.. I certainly wouldn't have spent a 6 figure amount on a Tesla instead of a Lambo, Porsche or McLaren if I wanted to compensate for coming in short.

They don't make an expensive enough exotic care to compensate for my "shortcomings".

Just before the New Year we traveled 1,100mi in two days. Spent an average time of less than 5min getting fuel @ aprox $2.80/gal. Over 350mi on a tank of gas.
I couldn't even begin to imagine what that would be like in an ev of any type.

Summer is 11 cents per kWh. Right now it is 9 cents a kWh, lowers to 7 cents after 500 kph and 3.9 cents after 1200 kWH. If we signed up for the off peak it is from 8 PM to 7 AM at 50% off pricing. All other kWh are billed at 140% of the regular rates.
I've got to do some math but it would seem to me cheaper to keep what we have.

Central CA. Power plants have been decommissioned due to the global warming agenda and the population has tripled since the last energy plant was built decades ago.
I was paying 11 cents per kwh 35 years ago in the SF Bay area. It's never been cheap here due to the villainization of fossil fuels and nukes.

I don't even know what I pay for a KWh, or for a 1000 cubic feet of natural gas. But these threads had me look it up recently, and we pay a little under $2,000 for a FULL YEAR of electricity AND gas. That covers all of my heating, cooling, cooking, showering, etc. That low of an energy expense at home gives me the flexibility that I really don't care how much I spend to fuel my vehicles.

I only drove my Corvette about 120 miles last year, burned about 12 gallons of gas in it. I know premium has been running more than $4 a gallon here, so I probably spent a little over $50 fueling it for the year. If I need to worry about that kind of expenditure, I've got bigger problems than my "carbon footprint".
