Came home from work one day and found out my kid had locked a stray cat into the bathroom. Worst smell ever

SHTF! And I'm not talking about cat shit.

In the pics below, the one end reeks but the other end doesn't. A new 6' piece of insulated 6" flex duct and the metal floor duct work was replaced.
No more smell.

The saga continues...

In the fan housing, there's a "flapper" that allows the fan air to exit, but closes if there's some amount of back flow from the duct work. I taped the flapper shut and the smell went away. That, in my small mind, means the stench is in the duct as oppose to in the ceiling.

Going to place a vacuum on the flapper first in suck, then blow. If that doesn't work, I'm going with the @Rodnok1 method with my battery powered leaf blower. Video is a pain, but if I get to the leaf blower, I just may document for posterity.

Is that what euthanasia costs these days?

If you can take the flapper off and blow it out, that'd be good.
My issue was where the duct connected to the flex duct, urine seeped into the first 6" of the insulation. Once that happened, it was game over. There was no way to eliminate the odor w/o replacing the flex duct. Hopefully in your case, there is no pee involved.
