Yeah, a GS only weighed ~600lbs more than the Z06 and barely got 12's in the quarter. But it also cost 10 to 20 times less depending on whether you buy new or used. Dropped a shift kit in the 400 turbo-hydramatic transmission and after that the 455ci would do 90mph in first gear (about a city block). Shifting to second gave incredible acceleration but I never ran that out because the tires were bias ply. Rated for about 120mph. Scary stuff and it got there plenty fast for me. It never saw a race track unless you count the back roads through Appalachia |

High 12’s to low 13’s ~ in the late 70’s. Had a 69’ 442 with a Pontiac 400 and a Muncie 4. Fireball cam, Torker manifold, double pumper and running slicks. High School budget so not bad for the times, IMO. Daily driver too.
