Default Kudzu To You Too.......

Dropped off the grandkids at summer camp (upper Eastern Shore of MD) this morning, while almost there the road gets narrower and we see this, countryside loaded with kudzu, an invasive vine from the Far East part of the world. It got there somehow, who knows.

I'd like to grow it in my yard, but I am not sure it can survive Texas heat and drought. Let it cover my fences.

Another example of the federal government screwing everybody.

Quote:
It was inside the Soil Erosion Service that the decision was made to use kudzu. SES higher-ups were aware of kudzu's growing abilities, but they did not think of the ramifications that mass planting would have on local ecosystems. The Department of Agriculture used the Civilian Conservation Corps to distribute and plant the seeds. Over a period of ten years, one hundred million kudzu seeds were planted, mostly in the South. The government even bribed farmers to plant kudzu at eight dollars per acre. By the end of the program, 46 million acres of kudzu had been planted.

My neighbors might kill ME though. I'd keep it cut, trimmed to just my fence, but I know it can run away. Growing up in Georgia, I saw a LOT of it.

There's a small business somewhere in the Forsyth County, NC that uses goats to manage it. So they get paid to haul their goats to a site, put up a temporary fence, and get their goats fed. Milk/ cheese is then pure profit. Talk about a tremendous business model.

Had a neighbor, since moved, bring that godforsaken shit into the neighborhood. It has become a constant battle to keep it out of my yard and off the house. Got sick and didn't mow for three weeks. Literally couldn't find the puch mower because it grew over it. Have to trim at least weekly or it eats the A/C unit outside. It got into the wooded area across the street and has killed off most of the trees in ten years. They should draw and quater the dumbass who thought it was a good idea to bring that to the country. Drove from Florida to Wisconsion and what used to be endless miles of various types of forest were completly covered by Kudcrap.

Just what I needed to see while taking a break from triming that horrible shit.

Not sure. In Florida we only have venomous snakes. But I have seen any nmber of them hiding there in the shadows. Maybe they'll kill off the feral cat hordes that have appeared since all the apartments were built nearby....
