Years backI had to fix a 72 C10 with a problem like that. I did it but used up a bunch of my best curse words. You want a fun truck or even many Chevy cars from that era get one with a 3 on the tree. The linkage jams easy and depending on what jammed you had to work under the truck or if lucky just pop the hood to get to the problem area.

Best thing you can do with that system is get a floor shift.

Saginaw?

I had to do some research online to find a bearing. Turns out, Saginaw made these columns for decades for various manufacturers! If you have a tilt, key on column, most likely they all came from the one place. A late model Jeep bearing is the same for my old '74 truck. They may have made a couple of small changes with the ign. lock and a couple other things. These have been around since the 60's!

If anyone ever stumbles onto this thread about a rebuild of a tilt column. Google Jim Shea. He was the engineer at Saginaw and has a webpage full of diagrams and info about these.
