People have been building platforms like this for camping beds for awhile. Especially in the dispersed camping crowd. They use the empty space underneath for storage. Some of them get pretty fancy.

And they have a very smug superior view. One of the big chemical plants I worked at they would hire a bunch right out of school. I know of at least two occasions (I was present) and heard their were a few more of these wiz kids almost blowing up/burning down the plant.

They seem to think their couple years of book knowledge is far superior to us grunts (pipefitter/welder) decades of real experience. Saw one of these bozo's get in a argument with a couple very seasoned chemical workers. His comment was ''I'm in charge I went to XXXXX College, what college did you go to''? He got canned a couple hours later when the chief engineer took a look around!

Use to be a old expression of whats a very dangerous thing. Answer a 2LT with a map. You could also say a new engineer with a slide rule, (old answer) now superseded by a new engineer with a computer!

I like this design! Looks easy to build and has good utility
