Had the seats out today. Foam looks good, but smell is emminating from seats. ??? I'm thinking now I have a crate engine upgrade. Perhaps Edlebrock. Heads and block are clean, no gunk whatsoever. Painted black, and stampings are clear as day. It's not an L48. Bolts in exhaust manifold are still shiny. Block stamping on right front of block is 1110326 with 9H04 underneath the top set of numbers. More pix of block tomorrow. |

If it's not the carpet causing the smell could be something crawled up inside a seat?
Had a mouse nest inside the blower motor of my Z06 that needed to be cleaned out once. Fan was making all kinds of racket |

Update, Block stampings
Got a pic of the RF side and LR side.
All I can confirm is that it's a 350 block. There was a paper tag/bar code on the right side of the oil pan. I took a rag to wipe the built up oil & grease off the tag so I could read it better, and the ink came off with the grease. Damn! RF block 1M0326-9H04 LR block 10066036 Any ideas as to what I got here? Block, timing chain cover and heads are painted satin black. |

You have a GM Target Master/Goodwrench crate motor engine code.
10066036 is the casting number and that indicates a 1986 or newer. 0326 = March, 26th ? Don't know about that suffix code. |

Digging thru the web, http://www.castingnumbers.info/site/detail/120/10066036
it looks like the one casting number 10066036 identifies it as a GM Goodwrench 4 bolt, crate engine with a 2 piece rear main seal. |

Friday and Saturday was carpet trimming and install of the storage deck lid.
PO just shoved the carpeting in and laid the storage cover over the top. I shampooed, then trimmed the carpet, spray glued the back portion by the light, then used 3 body style push pins to retain to the black plate. Installed the storage cover with sheet metal screws. sunlight doesn't help it, but all 3 pieces of carpeting are the same color. Now, on to the seat. This is the passenger seat. The tag on the bottom is "LSIM 44984 2375, with 368377 above it." Ordered correct color seat covers, and will redo these cushionssometime when it cools off. |

Got some work done today on the rear bumper cover.
Before pic. After pic. . Had to drill 3 holes in the cover, and remove a cover brace attached to the top inside on top of the bumper to attach the speed nutz. 3 bolts holding the brace, 2 hard to get at, and I busted the head off of one. |

Got the seats recovered Saturday & yesterday.
Ready for install, but working on radio and console install first. Before: After: I got some wrinkles in the side bolsters that I hope leaving out in the sun will shrink them. I couldn't stretch the sides anymore. |

Sound bar Install...
Put the radio in Sunday, and today I installed the rear sound bar.
before installing Installed I had one of these in my previous '76, and liked it, so I got a similar set-up for this one too. Sounds good, but needs an amp. Sometime in the future. |

Finishing the interior...
Been busy over the past week plus, working on the interior
Before pic: Many black parts needing dye and/or replacement. Progress after I took the interior out, dyed the console, rebuilt the E-Brake housing internals (nothing inside) and redid the seats: i only have minor work left in the interior I'll get to as soon as I find the parts I'm missing (heater core, fan, spacer between radio and dash) but it's mostly done for now. Mechanical work next (E-brake, leak in rear master cylinder, gas line, fan shroud), and maybe look into paint later this summer. For now, it's ready to drive a bit. |
