Ha, yes. Got a check for the Bridgeport, lathe, and a bunch of small tooling from a couple of young guys who are into 3D printing. They will be a new spinoff here in Rochester from Impossible Objects Inc., based in Illinois.

The main guy learned a lot about 3D as a Xerox employee -- he quit there in May to launch this company. It's interesting stuff, considering where it's gone in the past 25 or so years.

They are having trouble finding a rigger to move the stuff though. The big union riggers are for multi-billion dollar companies, they wouldn't even give them a quote. Used to be two brothers in Rochester that did rigging that I used a few times, but I heard that one of them had a machine drop and destroy his foot, so they closed up. They were freaking animals but knew what they were doing and were reasonable.

My buddy and I moved the Bridgeport and surface grinder here with a tilt-bed trailer back in 1985. Moved a couple of other machines around too, but I'm too old for that shit now.

I've had some interest in the CNC mill and grinder but no buyers yet. I've had zero interest in the two EDM machines.

I've tried posting on FB Marketplace, but that's a cluster**** and I haven't figured it out yet.

That right there is some awesome, amazing, incredible design, engineering and fabrication. I don’t know how anyone does work of such quality. Fastening a few straight boards together is really hard.

Great news! There has to be a couple of independents out there somewhere, I hope they can find them!
Speaking about moving stuff, I was never afraid of latching on to something I had no business lifting or shifting by myself. Now though, when I drop an object, I value it's worth before trying to bend over and pick it up!

Let Google be your friend. There must be specialty movers out there, with a flatbed, ramp and forklift.

Thanks! I had an account at one of those machining sites but haven't been there in years. Apparently it wasn't this one, so I just created one and will post my stuff this weekend.

Ha yeah I get it. I'll be 72 tomorrow and I just hired a plumber to do some stuff for me, first time I've hired one in my life. I just don't feel like fixing stuff anymore.

But I've got moss on my northern roof and I have to get that fixed. I've already broomed most of it off. I hope to finish it this afternoon and get some vinegar sprayed on it.

I hate getting up on roofs anymore, but I gotta do this and I have to clean my chimney each year in the fall also.

Actually it's the buyer's problem, they already paid me for the machines about 3 weeks ago.

I'm sure there's some indy around, Rochester has loads of machine shops and other heavy equipment businesses.

I will help them find somebody though. I have a couple more hat tricks to pull.

Happy 72nd in advance, Bruze! I know a really cool guy a few states south of you with a new pickup truck and a sheet hoist to lift stuff. He's even on this forum!

Thanks bud!

LOL @ "sheet hoist," whatever that is. Is this a block and tackle or something so Yaddy can load two sheets of drywall at a time?

The Bridgeport with vise is about 2100 lbs. The easiest way to move it 30 or so feet, and through two 42" doorways in which it will have to be cocked sideways to get through, is to lever it up on 4-5 1" pipes and roll it, taking the last pipe as it rolls clear and putting it in the front, rinse and repeat. Once they're out where I store my Vette, they can be winched up onto a tilt bed.

The lathe is on 4 legs, so a platform would have to be put under it, then rolled out. Not sure of the weight, but probably 1,000 lbs. To riggers, these are small machines.

There will be someone around who will do it at a reasonable price. If not, me and a couple younger guys I know can do it, although I ain't doing any bull work any more.

Right now, before I start drinking, I gotta get up on my roof and finish sweeping the ****ing moss off, and spray it with vinegar.

Does anyone know what an "hat trick" (hockey) is anymore? Is that still a thing?

Color me clueless, but I always thought it was about a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat.

Not enough piss for the roof, even after several cups of coffee during lunch.

Sometimes there's someone else in the creek so I piss on them.
