Bolded words added for clarity. If they're not in the sun there's no discernable difference in temp between white and black seats. You conveniently keep omitting that part.

I mean, that's pretty obvious.. Sure, you can state the obvious but it shouldn't be necessary. There is no way something will heat up above ambient air temperature if not exposed to the sun or other heat source. That's physically not possible.

I've lived in some hot parts of this country and have driven cars with black leather interiors for about the last 30 years. I say they all have cooled seats now, and they do, but I never bother using them because it's not a problem.

Easy solution... I tint my windows. Crazy idea, but amazingly enough, I've never been burned by a seat. I certainly wouldn't drive around with a hideous ass white interior because of it.

I'm struggling to think of something worse than a white leather interior.

Default Why EV Mandates Will Not Happen in 2035

ETA: Maybe @Rob can make this a sticky so we'll remember to check back in 2035 to see if the mandates happened or not.

Funny how things have changed in the last couple years. Used to be you couldn’t get a Tesla owner to shut up about Elon. Now all I hear from them is how much they hate him.

Finally saw a video of an EV owner who was truthful about range, and the numbers regurgitated by everyone are based on bullshit (EPA “rated” range multiplied by state of charge %) and the top 20%/bottom 10% of the battery is worthless on a long trip. 250 mile reported range ends up being 150 mile actual.

All depends how you drive and where you drive. I average EPA range on mine. Let's not forget that EPA is 55% city driving where EVs are more efficient.
On a 100% charge showing 330 mile range, I can go 250 miles at 80 mph unless most of it is uphill. However, around town, I can go 350 miles on a charge.
My commute is 90% highway BUT traffic is slow most days which helps efficiency. I average 250 wh/mile on my morning commute. EPA is like 280 wh/mile.

And to think... all this time I have been thinking that 330 was terrible.

On completely flat ground, you really can't drive for more than 3 hours from a 100% charge on the highway without an extended stop? Holy hell.

My 2015 GMC gets 65 mpg.

If I travel downhill, in neutral, and have an 80mph tailwind.
Otherwise, it gets 13mpg.

Hot fast food meals make it worth the inconvenience.

Rarely drove more than like 270 miles with my gas cars either. Can't go longer than that without a bathroom break anyways and breaks are good to avoid driver fatigue. On a 1000 mile trip in a day.. 250 miles then breakfast, 250 miles, then lunch and then another 250 miles than dinner and 250 miles to destination. With ideal charger spacing, only 3 stops in 1000 miles needed. We eat 3 meals per day. Works out perfect.

Then all the other car makers need to be honest about mpg too. Drive a Vette all day in NYC during summer with the AC on full blast and see if you get the advertised mpg

If you can't drive for more than 3 hours without having to take an hour long piss break, you need to stay off the roads all together.

Let's take a look at this Tesla math. You said you drive at ~80 mph.

250 miles - Breakfast.

250 miles - Lunch (~3 hours later)

250 miles - Dinner (~3 hours later)

So just to clarify, for it to "work out perfectly" as you claim, you eat all 3 of your meals in a day within 6 hours of each other.

There is no way you can spin it with hot meals or any of the other nonsense that you claim in defense of your beloved Elon. Having to make 3 extended stops in 1000 miles is f-ing pathetic.

In case you missed it, ICE vehicles have both a City and a Highway rating. The City rating does in fact include running heat/AC and city driving.

Of the 5 cycles that make up the testing, 2 are as follows: The “A/C” cycle is very similar to the standard city cycle but at 95-degree heat with the vehicle’s air conditioning and the "cold FTP" cycle is exactly the same as the city cycle but run at 20 degrees with the heat on.

You're welcome.

I wonder why EVs don't have a highway range listed separately. They get away with a single combined mileage. Could it be that nobody wants to have to advertise that the range goes to shit at the time that most people need it the most? When they're on the highway?

Nah, that couldn't be it.

I have an idea for these charging stations.....add video poker and slot machines to the charging areas, so the customers have something to do to wile away the time while they're having their cars charging. Add a separate area for arcade games for the kids. Or hey, maybe just bring back Stuckey's rest stop restaurants?

Obviously the gambling machines would only work in states with legalized gambling, so Texas would be out, unless the charging stations were located on Indian reservations.

Right, so you are going to be able to maintain 80 mph for 3 hours
Ever heard of cities?? I mean, unless you drive through Nevada or Arizona, you will drive through a few larger cities if you drive all day and you won't be able to go anywhere close to 80 mph. So, realistically, if you go 80mph wherever you an, 250 miles will take closer to 4 hours on most major routes.
9 AM breakfast, 1 PM lunch, 5 pm dinner.. Works out great.

Nah, that couldn't be it.
Actually, EV's have their mpge also rated by city and highway. Range is rated based on 55% city and 45% highway driving. Car manufacturers have nothing to do with how the EPA rates those.
Anyways, a C7 Vette is rated 17 mpg in the city. I will bet you $$$ that if you drive a C7 in summer around Manhattan all day long with AC set below 70 degrees until you run out of gas, you won't get anywhere close to 17 mpg.
So, complaining that an EV gets less range on the Highway than advertised is like complaining that gas cars don't get their advertised mpg/range in the city. Again, EPA does their rating based on 55% city and that's not car maker's fault that it's rated that way. BTW, their "HIGHWAY" cycle does not exceed 60 mph.. Also not car makers fault that the EPA rates that way.

ALL Corvettes get MUCH higher mileage than advertised.
Before I ripped apart my engine, after a failed water pump, I would get 30+mpg on highway in eco mode at 1,600 rpm at 70 mph in 7th gear..
My C6 also got close to 30 mpg on highway in 6th gear at 65 mph in 6th gear.

Please point out any of the big three that have overstated MPG, as I know of none.

Corvettes get much higher mileage ON THE HIGHWAY but less in the city.
I wonder if anyone with a Vette will take a bet.. Let's meet up in Manhattan on a 95 degree summer day and fill up the car in the early morning and then drive around Manhattan with AC set to 68 degrees until you run out of fuel. If you get the advertised CITY mpg, I pay you $2000. I did own C3's, C4's, C5's and C6's... and none of them would get advertised city mpg if you are all day in city stop and go traffic with the AC on. Yes, on the highway, I could get 30 mpg but they sucked in the city.
