Got to make my little girl happy today...

From the time she was a wee little girl, she and I would sit and watch old shows- Sanford and Son, Dukes of Hazzard, stuff like that. She loved Dukes of Hazzard, especially Bo Duke (John Schneider).
So around lunch today, I see on social media that he is appearing and signing autographs in an adjoining town, 20 miles away. I bailed from the office, checked her out of school, and flew down the interstate, since he was only there until noon and I'd found out about it at 11.... as we are getting off the interstate 3 blocks from the event, the radio station announced that "Bo and the General Lee have left. " She was crushed. I stopped anyway, and was able to get one of the guys to tell me that Schneider was heading for another local radio station- 20 miles the OPPOSITE direction of my work, "but you didn't hear it from me".
I called the boss, took a couple more hours for lunch, then called the radio station and bamboozled them into letting us in to meet him. They said they were keeping his visit quiet, but "one more can't hurt".
He was a great guy, and was very gracious, signing my daughter's hat and talking with us. Thanks to this, I am her hero. Well, second to Bo, apparently. Nice to see that one of my childhood heroes is a nice guy, not a jerk too- even if I didn't get a pic with him.
