Last night, in night golf league...

There were 8 of us that showed up in low-40's temps and a bit of a drizzle (on and off) for our night golf league under the lights. It's just a par-30 9 hole course that we use during the off-season because it's too dark to golf anywhere else after 5:30.

Anyway, our group of 4 was followed by the other group. Johnny, probably the oldest guy in our league at around 68 years old, got a hole-in-one on the probably most difficult par 3, a 175-yard shot. First time I've actually seen one. We were walking off the green and I just happened to look back to see where the first shot landed, because it was one of the closest to the pin holes. He was closest.

Normally it's tradition that the guy who gets a hole-in-one buys everybody in the group drinks but we were all hungry, tired, and just wanted to go home and get warm. Oh, and it was his 4th hole-in-one. Damn.

I played a night tournament one time. Scared the crap out of me to see these "lit" balls flying everywhere?

I've witnessed one hole-in-one.

It was a short par three that ran next to a chain link fence separating some apartments from the edge of the course. The guy shanked the tee shot - it ricochetted off the chain link fence almost 90°, bounced over a bunker, onto the green, tinked the flagstick and dropped into the hole.

We definitely made him buy for that.
